A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of speaking at the Thinking Digital conference at The Sage Gateshead, in Newcastle. The location alone is worth the visit, but what impressed us most were the presentations we saw. Truly inspirational talks from some the world’s greatest minds about their respective fields and careers, ranging from data visualization to cancer research.
The vibe of the conference was really positive, everyone was there to learn and be amazed at what the future holds. We enjoyed hanging out with speakers and attendees. Our session was well received by the audience, with helloflower driving enough attention to jump 194 places in the Entertainment category of the iPad App Store just after our talk. New Media Monthly were covering the event and posted a nice article about our app.
Special thanks to Herb Kim, Ellie Silson, Heather Peacock and everyone who made this event not only possible but a wonderful success.
Great news. HelloRacer WebGL has been awarded the FWA Site Of The Day for today, June 5th 2011. FWA is an industry recognised award program, established in 2000, showcasing projects which use cutting edge technology, together with inspirational ideas, that lead the way for future generations.
HelloEnjoy is proud to add this award to our treasure chest, and we’re really happy to see that WebGL is getting so much traction. Exciting times await us!
It was a fantastic opportunity to go into detail and discuss not only the technical aspects, but also our experience evolving the app based on the user feedback. We also enjoyed the usual drinks with fellow members of the group, very cool people from different backgrounds, but similar passion.
The video recording of our session has been published in the Unity blog. We wish to thank Will Goldstone for his hard work making these presentations available to the Unity community. Read more →
I’m delighted to be speaking at the Thinking Digital 2011 conference to be held on May 24-26 at The Sage Gateshead in North East England.
Bringing together innovative ideas, technologies and people, Thinking Digital is focused around digital media, science, art and music. The conference features two days of talks grouped in sessions with themes as diverse as The Future of Media, Mind over Matter and From Data to Wisdom.
My presentation is included in the The Medium is The Message session and will focus on my interactive 3D work using different technologies.
The conference kicks off with Thinking Digital University, a day of inspirational workshops before the main event. Being great fans of his work, we are thrilled to be attending Jer Thorp’s Introduction to Processing workshop.
It’s going to be an amazing event. Hope to see you there.
Join Carlos on Thursday May 19, 2011 at the London Unity User Group where he will be presenting our helloflower app. He will walk the audience through the production of the project, sharing his thoughts about the work and revealing behind the scenes assets and techniques used to create our 3D flowers.
To start the evening and make sure that the newer Unity users can get up to speed quickly, Russ Morris will be taking you through your first 45 minutes with Unity. London Unity User Group is a free event, but you need to sign up. Hope to see you there!
I had the pleasure of speaking with Dave Thackeray who runs the InspiRadio internet radio station. He interviewed me about our interactive 3D work and how we see. In the process I also explained a little about how I got started and a bit about my typical workflow.
Really enjoyed speaking to Dave, look forward to meeting him in person in a couple of weeks at Thinking Digital. You can listen to or download the full interview:
